Thomas Hegghammer is a senior research fellow at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment in Oslo, and the author of Jihad in Saudi Arabia: Violence and Pan-Islamism since 1979. Dominic Tierney is an assistant professor of political science at Swarthmore College. His third book How We Fight: Crusades, Quagmires, and the American Way of War will be published in November 2010.
