As Seen From Space: The Tropical Storm That Is Heading Toward the Republican National Convention

Republicans preparing for their convention in Tampa, Florida, next week are keeping a wary eye on Tropical Storm Isaac. Last night, the storm's winds reached 45 miles per hour, and they are expected to strengthen, potentially achieving hurricane status later tonight as it approaches Puerto Rico, according to NASA. Later tonight and early tomorrow, the storm is expected to reach the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and, soon thereafter, Cuba. Above, the GOES-13 satellite captured this picture of Isaac as it was yesterday at 14:45 UTC (10:45 EDT). Another storm, tentatively labeled Tropical Depression 10, trails behind.
