Picture of the Day: NASA's GRAIL Begins Its Journey

On Saturday morning at 9:08:52, NASA's Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida. GRAIL will arrive at the moon in about three months. The mission aims to collect data about the moon's interior structure and thermal history. GRAIL had been set two launch two days earlier but was delayed to due weather and technical difficulties.
