YouTube user opica1983 claims that he left his GoPro video camera on the ground in Cannes, France, where it was promptly stolen by a seagull and taken for a joy ride over the city. "I found it on the castle wall, where I had to climb," according to the description for this video, which is on the verge of going viral.
And that's why some have questioned its authenticity. "Probable conclusion," writes Charlie White at Mashable, noting that the company that makes GoPro is known for its viral video campaigns, "after scores of action videos featuring snowboarders and daredevils, apparently GoPro has branched out into skillfully produced simulated Seagull Cams. Brilliant."
Real or fake, the video takes viewers on a "majestic journey through the air, highlighting the intricacies of flight and a beautiful perspective from above," according to the Huffington Post's hyperbolic take on the 101-second clip. If for no other reason, carve out a minute and a half to watch this because you're not going to be able to avoid it.
