A Documentary About Dorothy Young, Houdini's Last Assistant

By Alexis C. Madrigal

Dorothy Young, Harry Houdini's last surviving assistant, died Sunday at the age of 103. She toured the country with Houdini's Broadway-style show in 1925-1926. Her act was called the Radio Girl; she appeared out of a seemingly empty radio and danced the Charleston.

As we noted, Houdini was an industrial age icon who would have been 137 today if he were immortal.

This short documentary, 100 Years with Dorothy Young, was made a couple years ago. Young remained amazingly lucid into her triple-digits, as you can see in the video, which was produced by Veras Films.
