Picture of the Day: The Bright Stars of a Nearby Galaxy

This image of the loose star cluster NGC 2040 in the nearby Large Magellanic Cloud was dug up by Eedresha Sturdivant, a contestant in NASA's ongoing competition for astronomy enthusiasts to ferret around the Hubble archive and find images never before promoted to the general public. The competition is open until May 31st.
