SOPA Site Blackouts: It's Not Just Wikipedia

Wikipedia has nabbed headlines for its decision to black itself out today in protest of two big pieces of legislation now in Congress, the Stop Online Piracy Act in the House and the PROTECT IP Act in the Senate. But the online encyclopedia is far from the only place up in arms over the potential damage to the Internet the could result from these bills. Many sites have put up some form of protest today (a day that was originally scheduled for hearings on the House bill, which have since been canceled). The diversity of responses -- some snarky, some angry, some elegant -- is itself a testament to what these bills threaten: the creativity that makes the Internet great.

Sites noticeably absent from this list: Amazon, eBay, Facebook (though it has noted its opposition to the bills on its site), and Twitter.

UPDATE 12:12 pm: Amazon is displaying a link "Reasons to oppose or modify SOPA" that redirects to netCoalition.com.
