The social geolocation service Foursquare created this data visualization of a week's worth of check-ins around the world. They color-code different categories of locations, like nightlife and home/work, so that the shifting color patterns reveal who's doing what, when. The company is celebrating their recent achievement of counting over a billion check-ins.
It's a beautiful visualization, though not without its own creepy implications. I recommend watching it full screen in HD.
