Erasing Your Google Reader and Starting Over From Scratch

Q: I want to clean out my entire Google Reader and start over from scratch. Is there a way to delete every feed all at once or do I have to manually unsubscribe to each?

A: If for some reason you want to eliminate every single feed from your Google Reader -- an evil prank? spring cleaning? -- you don't have to unsubscribe from each feed. You can do it in one batch.

Head to the 'Manage Subscriptions' link located just below your feeds. There, you will find a list of each RSS to which you've subscribed. You could check the box next to each subscription and then click the corresponding trash bin to the right, which would delete the selected feed. But, if you have more than a few feeds, that would be both time consuming and annoying.

Instead, click 'Select all subscriptions.' This will make whichever action you choose uniform across all of your feeds. You can then delete your entire Reader by clicking 'Unsubscribe.' Now you have a squeaky clean Google Reader and can start filling it up all over again. No trace, no evidence, of those feeds you subscribed to as a celebrity-obsessed teenager.
