Angry Birds Christmas Will Be Free Upgrade to Halloween Edition

Get excited. One of the biggest success stories of the year, Angry Birds, is releasing a special Christmas edition. And Rovio, the makers of the game, have confirmed over a tweet that the special will be a free upgrade for any users who already purchased the Angry Birds Halloween edition for $0.99.

The update to this super-addictive game will be made available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users and is expected to be available on December 11, the first annual Angry Birds Day. The company has not yet announced if it will release the Christmas special for Android.

The Angry Birds application has been downloaded more than 30 million times, with at least a third of those users paying for the application or playing an ad-supported version. Rovio could easily have charged another $0.99 for the upgrade to bring in more money to fund the upcoming sequel.
