Google Lets You Make Free Phone Calls Through Gmail

You can now make free voice calls to the United States and Canada through Gmail, at least through the end of the year.

Really? Yes!

We tried it out and it works just as advertised. The sound quality is good, too. Calls to other countries are cheaper than "the leading Internet telephone provider," Google says, with a call to your chateau in the south of France costing a mere 2.1 cents a minute.
