Technology changes at a relentless pace, so today's business leaders have to be steadfast in staying on top of all of the latest communication tools in the mobile device universe.
In every industry employees use different electronic gadgets -- smartphones, tablets and the like -- to stay connected with their companies and each other. In many cases, things like version inconsistencies and incompatibility between devices and servers can make it difficult for business administrators to control the exchange of information between affiliates.
Companies have sought out the help of mobile device management (MDM) services -- businesses that facilitate communications across the wide variety of devices and platforms a company may use.
Mobile device management providers offer many different services custom-tailored for the corporate world, including mobile device security and application management, as well as content and e-mail server management. Companies like SAP achieve this using client-side software that allows comprehensive IT control over the implementation of the company's e-mail server, which can be suitable even for corporations of massive scale.
There are also more nascent MDM companies like AirWatch, which have taken advantage of cloud-based e-mail and device management, offering a lightweight solution with maximum compatibility for the user. Designed to be multi-tenanted, highly scalable and integrated with existing enterprise systems, the AirWatch also supports all major mobile platforms, like Apple iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone, without extra configuration.
Such services have allowed companies to easily get their messages across a plethora of tablets, phones and laptops, thwarting technological obstacles to avoid a communication breakdown and keeping everyone on the same page.
