For our annual gift guide, TheAtlantic.com asked contributors and assorted luminaries to tell us what's high on their holiday wish list -- and what charity they'd like their friends to support.

What's on their wish lists?

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, lawyer, non-profit director, and former lieutenant governor of Maryland
On her list: An iron work table

I'd love to have a piece of furniture designed by Hal Newman of Newman-Frey Ironworks. I'm on the road a lot, and it's a great joy to come home and enjoy a work of art that you can view and then you can use. Hal has designed many beautiful pieces for my daughter, Meaghan, who founded Up Dog Yoga and Cycling, a very cool studio in the center of West Hollywood. I already have a couple of his pieces, but this year I have my eye on a particularly gorgeous table.

Townsend's holiday charity: My father's memorial, the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, which supports human rights defenders around the world.
