For our annual gift guide, asked contributors and assorted luminaries to tell us what's high on their holiday wish list -- and what charity they'd like their friends to support.

What's on their wish lists?

Lawrence O'Donnell, host of MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell. Previously executive producer and writer for The West Wing, and Senior Advisor to Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
On his list: An espresso machine

I would like a small and quiet espresso machine for the office--with a milk steamer that's easy to use, which is usually the problem. I spend too much of my day in midtown Manhattan coffee lines, and a machine will pay for itself in a few months.

Share this gift idea:

O'Donnell's holiday charity: K.I.N.D: Kids in Need of Desks, which provides tens of thousands of desks to hundreds of schools in Malawi.
