Thousands gathered in Washington, D.C., over the weekend for "Stop Watching Us," the largest U.S. protest against mass surveillance to date. "This isn't about red or blue party lines, and it definitely isn't about terrorism," Edward Snowden said in a statement read aloud to attendees. "It's about being able to live in a free and open society."
