Things Newt Gingrich Has Said to Inflame the Left

Perhaps with the exception of Sarah Palin, nobody angers the left like Newt Gingrich.

It's part of his appeal on the right: Gingrich is a warrior, lobbing rhetorical bombs at his opponents nonchalantly, offering up descriptions and characterizations that seem offensive to some and delightfully satisfying to others.

One can imagine, with equally vivid realism, either the staff of Media Matters for America or Gingrich's top financial backers uttering the words "'Kenyan anti-colonialist?' Oh no" with either complete disgust or exquisite satisfaction.

Gingrich has polarized since his House career ended in the 1990s, but he hasn't lost his flair in the Obama era. It's given him more fodder, rather, and he's used it. Now he's most likely running for president, having officially announced that he's exploring a bid, so we can expect Gingrich to keep sparking controversies for the next year and two thirds.
