Tea Party Express is trying to raise $1 million in the last few days before the 2010 election, seeking to fund ads in the handful of races they're involved in--including, most notably, the Senate races in Nevada, Alaska, and Delaware.
The group has raised $300,000 toward that goal, according to a fundraising e-mail sent out today to supporters. The group wrote:
To fund the hundreds of races we are involved in across the country we launched a $1 MILLION fundraising drive. As of right now we are just about to reach $300,000 and we are making great progress.
The group had spent over $4.7 million on elections during this cycle as of October 13 (including spending on special elections and the 2009 off-year race in New York's 23rd Congressional District), according to financial disclosures with the Federal Election Commission last week.
Tea Party Express has demonstrated some flexibility in its spending, purchasing TV air time and raising money to back it up on a rolling basis. With only five days before Election Day, they're sticking with that model to try to deliver some last-minute help to their endorsed candidates.
