Scalia's Health Care Bet, Settled

By Chris Good

Back in January, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia placed a bet against health care reform passing in Congress. The recipient of this bet? Ezekiel Emanuel, the bioethicist/M.D./Ph.D. brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

The wager was dinner, and Scalia, having lost, took Emanuel to Jose Andres's Minibar, a miniature restaurant inside Cafe Atlantico in downtown Washington, DC. I am not an expert on these matters, but Minibar is likely Washington's most avant-garde-posh establishment (within an establishment).

With the bet settled, a lovely Ezekiel Emanuel review of Minibar for The Atlantic's Food Channel followed this week.
