Map of the Day: Louisiana Is the Most Suspicious of Obama of any State

By Patrick Ottenhoff

President Obama certainly hasn't received high marks on his handling of the BP oil spill from wide swaths of the American people. In Louisiana, he has probably gotten an "F."  But it appears that even if the oil spill had never happened, Louisiana would still be the most suspicious of Obama of all the 50 states.

"Suspicion" is not necessarily unpopularity; it's uncertainty, distrust, and skepticism. So in Obama's case, a good barometer for suspicion is interest in his birth certificate.

If you search Google Insights for "obama birth certificate," Louisiana has the most hits. If you tweak the search to "barack birth certificate" or "barack obama birth," the top ten states shift a bit, but Louisianans are still the most interested in where this Obama fella came from. This was true and constant even before the spill.

Simply put, Louisiana is the most suspicious of Obama of any state. It's certainly not going to help his case making things right in the Gulf.

Here's the map of searches for "obama birth certificate," measuring 2004-present.
