In today's New York Times, Jim Rutenberg
reports on the curious, profitable alliance between Hillary Clinton and Matt Drudge, a connection mediated entirely through intermediaries.
For a while, Clinton seemed to be the only Democrat whose allies managed to open a pipeline to the South Florida-based web traffic master.
But not anymore.
When in early October a Clinton "source" leaked Drudge her third quarter fundraising numbers, a curious bit of counter spin appeared in a Drudge subhead just moments later.
It noted that Barack Obama had, in fact, raised more money for the entire year, and it used the exact same language than an e-mail sent to reporters
later by the Obama campaign just happened to contain.
