Just try pitching an editor an article on spectrum management policy some day. I dare you. Well, actually, it turns out I probably should have tried to pitch it to a business magazine, since
Forbes ran a big piece on the subject by Tim Wu. The details are kind of dull, but the upshot is that it's very important that the FCC adopt what's called a "right to attach" rule when it auctions off new spectrum in the near future; said right meaning that any device capable of connecting to a network safely (i.e., without screwing up other people's ability to use the network) must be allowed to do so.
