If he gets away, a lot of people commiting perjury can appeal on this exception

Gerald Ackworthy - Democrat, Option B
Unlike M G Hagan, I don't feel the American people are dumb, I think the American Media, (ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX & NBC) is the most control news broadcasting system in the world. I think the wool has been pulle over the eyes of the American people. I think the reason traitors like BC get to stay in office, get elected to begin with his because of the Media. They have made more escuses for and defended this boy than they would have for any other prez.
Rick Handrich - Libertarian, Option B
1. Show true remorse for and set example for moral failure. 2. Open books on campaign finance irregularities and lead movement to reform.
Steve Moss - Independent, Option B
The highest priority must be to do what is right; not what is politically expedient or possible.
David Jones - Independent, Option B
Clinton is a disgrace to the country. The results of this poll show that the other liberal media polls are fabricated. The American people want Clinton gone -- NOW!
Michael E. Long - Republican, Option B
This amiable rake does not have the ability to govern. He is a national embarrassment.

You have lost your moral authority to be the leader of this country!
Eric Dreher - Republican, Option B
You're a mentally deficient liar afflicted with poor judgement and a sociopathic character.
Donald L. Keehn - Unregistered, Option B
The President lacks the moral authority domestically as well as abroad to effectively govern this country. The era of deny, delay and destroy your enimies must come to an end. This presidency is a boil on tthe american conscience and must be lanced if we are to heal as a nation and re-instate our leadership role in the world.
Bob Gough - Libertarian, Option A
I enjoy seeing your whores defend you. Even Bob Dole will be joning the ranks of the Clinton whores.
JEAN SAM - Other, Option B
hE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE COUNTRY. AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE MOST WONDERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, HE IS A DISGRACE AND NOT TO BE TRUSTED.
John W Grelis - Unregistered, Option A
1.The Starr allegations do not amunt to an impeachable offense. 2.I support the President's policies. 3. The President has done an effective job. 4. His remaining in office will eventually focus attention on the larger issue of the prosecutorial misconduct of Kenneth Starr
Richard Olsen - Republican, Option B
The President has and continues to have a low regard for his office. He misused the office for personal gain. He abused the dignity of the office with his sexual habit. But beyond that, he has lied, covered up, and mislead the world. His word cannot be trusted. Would you sign a treaty from a habitual liar and believe he will fulfill his part of the bargain? He may have asked for forgivness and has declared he has repented, but he must still live with the consequences. Even King David in the Old Testament who was forgiven when he genuinely repented, and who was declared a man after God's own heart, had to live with the disaster that fell on his household as a result of his sin. Mr. Clinton is no better. He must go.
Angus McNew - Unregistered, Option A
Let's get it all out there. No need to resign and become a "martyr" and later a "senior statesman" with some modicum of respect. Since "that government is best which governs least," please stay in as long as possible!
warren halvorsen - Republican, Option B
in our form of goverment the rule of law must prevail.
Liz Carter - Independent, Option B
The Lewinsky schandal is the least disturbing of the charges. If Clinton resigns now, the full story on China, Filegate and Travelgate, etc. will not recieve the same public attention and it might be easier for the country to deal with and for him to make a deal.; however, I believe these other charges will still be dealt with fully. To do nothing will set the country on an accelerated path to lower morality and more cynicism. If the silent majority ever decides to behave in the same way as Clinton has, that will be the end of an orderly , law-abiding nation. Taxes won't get paid, laws won't be obeyed and no one will be able to do anything about it. If "everyone" really "does it" we will have little left for anyone. That is why leaders must set an example. If they choose to have a private life that is less than appropriate, they should decline a leadership role.
John Doggett - Republican, Option B
Bill Clinton has loss the moral authority to lead at a time when the world is facing a major financial crisis. Bill Clinton can't get Congress to do anything significant because they don't trust him. America and the world need strong Democrat and Republican parties. The Demos will be fatally wounded as long as Bill Cllinton puts his own ego in place of the needs of America and the nation.
Undisclosed - Other, Option B

John L. Estes - Republican, Option B
President Clinton has proven his dishonesty and lost his ability to command respect. He has destroyed everything good remaining in the image of America to the eyes of the world.
Harry Godwin - Other, Option A
I think that he should remain in office for the next two years. He is the best thing decent people have going for them. He has almost destroyed the (democratic communist party). A republican president could not come close to this. He has opened the eyes about all of the crooked things that goes on in Washington. When he goes though he needs to take algore and Gingrich with him and anyone else who is amember of the CFR which is also communist. Most of the congress also are trying to push this NWO bullshit which is waking the people up to the fact that they are communist too. Yes we need Bill to show the American people who these traitors are. If we didn't have a SATAN then JESUS would be meaningless.
Frances - Republican, Option B
I believe his moral authority is now non-existent. The hearings will, no doubt, bring out more unsavory material which will further hobble his efforts at governing.
jack roberts - Republican, Option B
He is substantially weakened, and is unable to govern effectively. He has set a terrible example for our children. Have you tried to explain what a "blow job" is to your nine year old daughter?
Tom Hammel - Other, Option B
Mr.Clinton approved the "illegal" sale of technology by use of a retroactive waiver. China,North Korea,Pakistan,Afghanistan,Iraq,Iran and Libya have no regard for this Presidents ability to uphold the interests of the U.S. He presents a danger to the entire peace effort in the world today. I don't believe the Sudanese factory was a legitimate target. He ordered the attack that killed innocent civilians in a friendly city. If a foreign country did that to a U.S city the American people would call for a retaliation of major proportions.
Rob O'Connor - Libertarian, Option B
The rule of law.
Bradley R. Larsen - Independent, Option B
Dear Atlantic, here are some of my reasons: Lifelong womanizing, Whitewater; strange connections to shady dealings at Mena, Ark.; probable ongoing cocaine habit; incessant lying; draft dodger (I'm a Vietnam veteran; he HAD received draft notices; he DID renege on promises to join Ntnl. Gaurd); strange dealings of Rose Law Firm through his wife, etc.; the intimidation of women who had affairs with him or witnesses to same, the latest of whom is the Gracen (sic)lady; unlawful use of FBI files; Travelgate; VERY questionable dealings with Chinese and others especially involving transfer of restricted technology and funneling of campaign contributions into the Clinton coffers; the multitude of deaths of people somehow connected to him; the unlawful interference in the Vincent Foster death (a probable murder); the strange death of Ron Brown and others (I've seen photos of the apparent .45 caliber hole in Brown's head; what about the intimidation of the military medical examiners of his and other victims bodies, I've read their testimonies); influence peddling; illegal use of IRS, FBI to intimidate opponents. The list goes on and on. Clinton is very intelligent, suave, well met, etc. But he is VERY flawed, bordering on, if not fully within the range of, the sociopathic. I gag to think he might have the power to put my son's life at risk by sending him into battle, and all the while he may be masturbating during phone sex with some young intern or getting a blow job just outside the oval office. Plus I would NEVER trust his assessment or manipulation of a situation where he might decide to send my son into battle in the first place. I read the Atlantic Monthly for YEARS. I'm remembering the Perepetitic Reviewer (can't remember his name, though). The strangest thing to observe in this day and age is the damndest phenomenon of the willingness of people to put blinders on and ignore who Clinton REALLY is and the illegal, dishonest things he does. If you think THIS assessment is wrong and off the mark, I trully believe you are immersed in a pink fog, are fundamentally disconnected from reality and have been taken in by a highly talented and gifted mountebank/criminal. I used to like Clinton; he received votes out of my household. But then I started looking into some of the discrepancies......

He has denigrated the office of President. He has disqualified himself from occupying the highest office in the land by committing shameful practices against himself, Miss Lewinsky, his family, and ultimately the people of the United States. He obviously does not understand this his actions have consequences. To try to justify his actions in order to retain his position is sad. The land my children stand to inherit is worse off for him being President.

Bill Clinton is a typical corrupt Arkansas politician who thought he could bring his criminal regime to Washington and continue business as usual. For the most part he has. The American people have to be the dumbest bunch of idiots in the world. Time to send this common criminal back to Arkansas.

I want sick Bill out!! My only question is where are the feminists at now, they surely don't practice what they preach. Send sick Bill, hilliary, monica and the feminists back to arkansas, and they can all live in a trailer park together. Wait, better yet send them to jail, that is where criminals belong... Loss of trust...can not be regained...Lack of character, morals and ethics cannot be replaced. Lack of respect for the people by lying cannot bring back the money spent to prove this point. The office of the President deserves a more honorable person...obviously this president has no shame. he has made us the laughing stock of the world.his total disregard for country family and most of all women makes me very angry. if this is a new democrat (as per his and Mr. Gore's campaign description)then thank you I will pass. as for the most honest&open administration..I will pass. Trenton G. Twining - Libertarian, Option B
Mr. Clinton cannot legitimately enforce laws which he openly breaks. Nobody can be prosecuted for perjury while Mr. Clinton remains in office. Nor can other gangster-style crimes be prosecuted. Mr. Clinton behaves like a gangster. He should be treated like a gangster.
Matt Richards - Democrat, Option B
The reckless behavior of engaging in sexual relations with an intern is reason enough. If a president engages in such behavior, the potential threats to nation security are enormous.
John D'Isacco - Democrat, Option A
Because I want to see you impeached. I have long known that you earned the label "Slick Willy". How you ever got elected is beyond me. I saw you for what you are from the very beginning. You are a disgrace to the office of President of the United States. A product of the '60's you brought your amorality to the White House. You have no moral compass. You engage in adulterous sex. You lie to the American people to their faces. You threaten your critics with Mafia style intimidation. No. Do not resign. You do not deserve to live the rest of your life at tax-payer expense or to continue to hoodwink the people of this country with your "teflon tactics." I want all of your misdeeds brought to light: Travelgate, Whitewater, Filegate, Vince Foster, Jerry Parks, Ron Brown, and especially your betrayal of our security to the Chinese for a mess of potage. No, Slick Willy, please don't resign. I want you impeached. God help this country to free itself from you.

Clinton has disgraced the office to which he was elected not only by committing serial perjury, sbourning perjury, obstructing justice and abusing power, but also has voilated the intent and spirit of the Constitution by ruling by decree through executive orders, has sold US military secrets to potential enemies of the US, has violated campaign financing laws and now is doing all in his power to subject the American people to a protracted impeachment proceeding. Unlike Nixon, who had at least the dignity and strength of character to resign rather than subject the nation to impeachment hearings, Clinton has not one shred of morals, character or decency. This loathsome figure's historical legacy to the nation will be one of an ineffectual chief executive and as an example of the worst that can happen under our political system.

If he resigns now, the dirt will likely never surface, and he will never be punished for his crimes. Justice will not then be served. His resignation will give Gore an edge in the next election, and his crimes will also be buried as the power of the party rises to the occasion. If he stays in office, the investigations continue, more of the dirt will surface, along with Gore's, and eventually the country will be rid of both of these vermin, with a strong possibility that both will face criminal charges once the public realizes the truth.

Although I personally disagree with Clinton's politics and his personal dealings, I think the strongest argument he should resign is the simple fact that he is weak. As American's we are all in danger. There are major issues on the world front that need a strong and reputable leader to deal with them. Korea, the Middle East, Russia, and on and on. This is not near closure. There are more reports to come on the many dirty dealings of our President - FBI Files, the Travel Office, Campaign Finance, dealings with China. He needs to resign before opportunistic terrorists take advantage of his weakness and American's get killed. It will also allow this country to reset it's moral compass. What are you willing to sell out in exchange for a strong economy?

Michelle Shutt - Independent, Option B
There's no doubt that Clinton lied under oath to protect himself. While the reasons for lying are understandable, they do not excuse the lying or make it right. He's making excuses I would never accept from my kids. If the President believes that it is justifiable to lie under oath to protect himeself, our entire judicial system is undermined. The only justification I can see for lying under oath is to protect a life, protecting one's chosen elected office is not justification.

I really think Clinton should be impeached. Why should the American public spend one dient? I flat refuse to! Clinton has ruined the credibility of his office; he cannot remain effective in world politics. He has run this country into the ground, split the nation apart, and insults the intelligence of our people when he expects us to swallow his lies. It is simple. President Clinton committed perjury. "Yes, the president should resign. He has lied to the American people, time and time again, and betrayed their trust. He is no longer an affective leader. Since he has admitted guilt, there is no reason to put the American people through an impeachment. He will serve absolutely no purpose in finishing his term, the only possible solution is for the president to save some dignity and resign." (William Jefferson Clinton, 1974 on President Nixon) Hmm! He seem to agree.
R. Schwartz - Independent, Option B
The country cannot stand to be leaderless for the next two years. Even if you cut a deal with Congress, your moral and political authority is irretrievably gone and cannot be regained. The Republicans would just as soon let you twist in the wind for two years while they proceed to destroy the Democratic Party for a generation. This may happen anyway, but at least a President Gore would have a honeymoon for a while and the public would be very reluctant to see the campaign finance case against him continued. In the meantime we would at least have a Government.

Mr. Clinton has disgraced the office of President and has lost the respect of everyone. I know of no one who supports him. I do not believe the polls that state even a minority support for his staying in office. I believe the Monica Lewinsky matter is a small thing compared to the treasnous claims that are still under investigation. Let's act on the perjury issues now and not allow Mr. Clinton to further endanger us while the investigations against him continue.
Michael L. Anderson, M.D., Ph.D. - Independent, Option B
1. In the political philosophy of our Republic, no one individual is indispensible to its agenda or future. On the other hand, the scurrilous behavior of the Oval Office's present occupant brings opprobrium to the Executive Branch, diminishing its dignity and subjecting it to unrelenting ridicule. Moreover, the president is jeopardizing the political agenda and the fortunes of those who espouse his policies, in the upcoming elections. In the final analysis, which is of greater importance to the president? His own need and desire for power, or the unimpeded furtherance of the policies he claims to champion? If the former, then he no longer should be trusted with the mantle of leadership. He is a gravely woumded political leader, and his vulnerability reduces his effectiveness as an advocate for others, anthus threatening their security and sense of stability. Others exist who can shoulder the Republic's load, others (one hopes) who are more faithful and assiduous in carrying out the mission to country, family, and one's self. The country as a whole, and the Democratic Party as one segment of that country, are large and are not dependent on a single autocrat for success, bounty, and plenty. We are dependent, however, on principle, basic decency, integrity, and self-control. In the past, the nation's leaders collectively may not have always attended to these virtues; but they at least found it necessary to pay lip-service to them, because of their common-sense necessity. Now we have a post-modernist president who, by his conduct, betrays any acknowledgment of the necessity. The president should resign. 2. I have read Option A, and it is most unconvincing. The present crisis is not whelped from sexual escapades, but from the peculiar psyche of the man occupying a position of highest public trust. Quite possibly, we would not behave been in this position if the media, in 1992 and 1996, had GENERALLY (or at least, its most influential voices) had suggested to the American citizenry that personal character was of little consequence as long as adherence to the "correct" policy measures could be demonstrated. The American public is no purer, no smarter, no less gullible than other peoples of the world. The value of the present crisis is that it warns us that we can also succumb to the flatterer, the emotional manipulator, and the imposter as has other civilized peoples have in the past. Mr. Clinton is not in a league with the great scoundrels of history; the type and extent of his peccadilloes are revealing and true measures of the man, namely those of a petty thug arising from third-rate political backwaters. But he manipulates the language in as cold and calculated manner as the narcississtic monsters of the past. No, it is NOT just about sex. The dsordid details of the Starr report were needed to expose a man who demonstrably strains at the gnat of the smallest intransitive verb of being. This is what the Office of the Presidency of the United States has been reduced to, a state which can only herald further deterioration if 'We the People' cannot muster the inner resources to insist upon the high standards we need to continue to excel, to achieve, TO BE in the coming millenium. We, or our children, shouldn't have to distract ourselves with the definition of "is." The Presidency is more than an office of a political cheerleader. It is also, in our secular age, a moral beacon which transcends the everyday minutia of life in these Americas. That is why the office is a heavy responsibility, to be filled only by the very best if we insit on it. We do not have the very best, in a dangerous, uncertain and predatory world. Every action is suspect; is the president bombing terrorist camps, or is he destroying pharmaceutical hoiuses in the land of the starving, to save his transitory political possessions? The President should resign.
John Griffin - Republican, Option B

Although the Constitution is designed for such things, it is for the good of the country that Clinton resign. He has shown contempt for the Constitution. He has shown contempt for the law. He has shown contempt for the people of this country. He has shown contempt for the Office of the Presidency. He continues to show this contempt knowing that the polling numbers are created results, and that less than one-half of the population voted him into office. He has sold his political soul for his own "30 pieces of silver(campaign contributions)" to foreign interests. Clinton has lied under oath,(committed perjury), obstructed justice, engaged in immoral behavior in the White House with several women, lied to his Cabinet concerning the matter concerning which he gave perjurious testimony under oath, and lied to the country at large. He has also compromised national security by trading sensitive military intelligence(satellite gear)in exchange for campaign contributions from the People's Republic of China. As with Nixon, Clinton is hell-bent on exerting power, ignoring national interests.
Dave Hessford - Independent, Option B
Certainly, he is a perjurer. Once Impeachment Hearings start, it's all over. Things will cascade out of control. Especially if the Dem's lose 10 seats in the House and 3 in the Senate ( which I think likely) Then, even Democrats will jump in. Dont let the Polls fool you. He's in real jeopardy of total emasculation.

Forget about sex...look at the pattern of behavior, from "smoking without inhaling" to Whitewater, Paula Jones (any doubts now?), Filegate (simple snafu???!!), White House coffees (& Lincoln bedroom and Airforce One "rentals"), Chinagate, to lying under oath, coaching others to lie under oath, etc. This guy is a moral midget, and Democrats should not carry the torch for him, because people come and go, but policies and institutions stay. If the Democrats let Clinton get away with this, what moral authority will there ever be to hold a Republican president accountable. Resign now.

First of all-I think B.C. should be impeached- not allowed to resign! Our country needs this to set the future standard for future presidents. If we don't impeach-resignation will always be an option for a defective president. we should go through the entire process-see if it works and adjust the process if necessary. So-I think you are mistaken in not offering impeachment as an answer.
Grant Goodman - Democrat, Option A
Resignation might help the party in the short run, but would badly damage the country in the long run. Resignation would reward the Republicans for their despicable behavior and encourage more of the same in the future from both sides -- we've already seen it in Salon's report on Henry Hyde's affair.
Anna Miller - Republican, Option B
Dear Mr. President, For the sake of my children and yours, and for the sake of our future America, please step down and end this assult on moral values. After careful thought I have come to the conclusion that for our country's sake, I must resign. I have paralyzed this nation with my lies and deceptions for much too long. Not only did I lie in my grand jury testimony, but I also lied in my deposition in January. Our nation is one of laws...equal justice under the law. What will become of the rule of law, if I, the leader of the nation, is allowed a pass on this matter? We teach our children that there are consequences to bad behavior; they need to see that there are consequences- even for the President. I need to put an end to this trauma for Americas' sake. No matter what the underlying issue is, private or public, lying is not acceptable at any time. Honesty is indeed imperitive to leading a decent and moral life. I have failed the American people in this respect, and for this I must resign.

He created it by his own poor judgement and his decision to lie to the American people. Therefore, out of respect for the public and for the history of the office, he should resign.

He has disgraced the office, committed felonies, and utterly compromised his Cabinet. He is, by a colossal margin, unfit to lead, at a time when we need trustworthy leadership. But a liar that is known is not believed so cannot mislead us. He stays as President and we continue to not believe anything he says. The point is obvious at this time that the president lied to the people on a subject of no great import and proved that his word is not to be trusted. It is dangerous to have a leader who has such little regard for the truth. As a citizen of the United States, I would like to express my opinion regarding the debacle going on in Washington. I don't know who is being polled across the country but, it certainly is not me or my contemporaries. We are appalled by the flagrant deceit of the entire world by the president of the United States of America. Would any of us accept his "explanation" if it were coming from a teenager? How many kids across the US have gotten the message that a blowjob is OK because it is not sexual relations? Is this what we want our girls and boys to view as acceptable behavior? "Well, if it's OK with the president and the US government then why shouldn't it be OK for me"?? Would Clinton accept this explanation from Chelsea's boyfriend? Would any of us????? Can you imagine how many parents, principals and police officers are going to hear the same LAME reasoning from kids? What are we telling our teenagers?? This is setting back women's rights 30 years!! Clinton is an employee of the citizens of the United States of America. He is the CEO of the biggest country in the world. He had sexual relations in the workplace, with a co-worker, on company time. He lied about it. He knowingly and willfully had his wife, lawyer and cabinet members lie for him. There is only one reason we are in this situation and it is because of the president himself. No salacious details would have been necessary if he had one ounce of honor and had answered the questions put before him in a straightforward manner. He lied to me, he lied to you, and he lied to the world. Talk about a breach of trust. Every time I hear anything coming from the Whitehouse I automatically assume it is a lie. The president shouldn't even be able to keep his security clearance. The focus on Ms. Lewinsky has caused many to forget: there are other matters (some would say more serious from the beginning) that might justify impeachment. Judge Starr is still looking into some of these; over others, he was never given authority. In the latter category are whether the President allowed the transfer of missile technology to China, even in part, because of campaign contributions from China; and whether the President and Vice President misused the White House and the Executive Office of the President by holding fund-raising events there, or by soliciting contributions from there. In the former category are the fact that files from Vince Foster's office under subpoena were missing for over a year, then turned up in the President and First Lady's private study; the access to raw FBI files maintained unlawfully at the White House; the closure of the White House travel office and subsequent criminal charges brought against its formal director, allegedly at the First Lady's direction; and the original Madison Guaranty Bank inquiry itself-- whether the bank was used to defraud taxpayers for the purpose of enriching the President and First Lady through their investment in Whitewater. This is no way to run a country. This is no way to set an example for our children or the rest of the world. Just because someone is a skillful and practiced LIAR does not mean there are no consequences for completely irresponsible, reprehensible, appalling behavior. Character does matter and it's about time we stand up for our nation and our nations children. Do you remember the speech he gave in April. Talking about family values and how he's done his best to uphold those values. How important family values are for our nations children and how that is the strength needed for the 21st century. What a load of crap coming from HIS mouth. He is absolutely shameless. It all boils down to one thing. You are either honest and trustworthy or you aren't. If you aren't then you cannot be the leader of the greatest country in the world. Clinton must be impeached. Sincerely, A concerned California citizen.

Nobody in the inner circle has cut a deal to save their skin, yet, but if impeachment hearings begin it will only be a matter of time. If Reno fails to quash the investigations into foreign money the spectre of criminal indictments for campaign fraud (possibly even espionage) are almost a certainty. He should work out a blanket pardon with Gore, and resign before any indictments are delivered. It would be best for the country. Unfortunately, he's never considered that factor throughout his presidency
john kreamer - Libertarian, Option B

There is clear evidence that the President broke the law and his oath of office. He has sacrificed his credibility and is no longer able to lead. And (although this doesn't exactly break my heart) he is hurting his party. Now if we don't wish to similarly sacrifice the credibility of the entire legislative branch, we must impeach. The U.S. Government can not be perceived to be putting some people above the law... otherwise we're no better than some third-world 'government'. The impeachment process is designed by the Framers as a way to remove a president who is unfit for the office. "We don't want to undo an election" goes the old argument. This is completely invalid. Read the Constitution - THAT'S THE PURPOSE OF IMPEACHMENT! If the President wants to do the right thing for the country he will resign. This thing won't go away, and the rest of this presidential term is a wash. We will never be able to get back to the business of the country until he is gone. And in the meantime, Iraq will continue to secretly develop chemical and biological weapons, North Korea will continue testing of the newly-upgraded (longer range) Nodong missiles, a new (possibly) more U.S.-friendly leader in Iran will continue to be ignored, the Russian situation will continue to decline until the entire region is de-stabilized, ... We've got to much at stake to leave a leadership-impotent president in power. Mr. President, please put the COUNTRY first for a change and RESIGN NOW!

God is in the business of forgiving sin; adultry is a sin. Our courts are in the business of judging and punishing crime. In this case the Congress is the Court. Lying under oath to cover up your sin of adultry is PERJURY. Then you parse words, hair split words, to justify your perjury. As the mother of a murdered child, I am extremely worried what the outcome of this rangling on should we or should we not punish Bill Clinton for lying about "just sex", will have on the entire judicial system. Allowing Mr. Clinton to 'get away' with perjury will have in my opinion have a devastating effect on our judicial system. Murderers and rapists will then want the same kid glove treatment. Mr. Clinton in your own words for the SAKE OF ALL OF OUR CHILDREN RESIGN NOW! You set a extremely BAD example for our CHILDREN.

Further, since I have sort of repented for only that which the public is aware of, I really don't want to be put through another series of Crocodile tears..that would be too much. I also don't want to answer any more questions about my deception of Col. Holmes and those pesty little Vietnam Veterans who think I'm a lily livered $#&%*&^!Should I remain in office, it will only be a matter of time before my truly treasonous activities surface and I have already worn out my welcome with most of my apologists so my chances of escaping that would be near impossible. Clinton has made a mockery of the presidency, and this country. His character is no longer in question. He has commited treason. Everything else he has done pales in comparison to that. Had a normal citizen done what he has, that person would end up paying with his life, with Clinton denoucing him. Along with all of the other crimes he has commited, and "lapses of judgement" that has occurred, it amazes me that this country even has to ask this question. This is already a sad statment about this country, but if he is to remain, it would make the lack of character of this country clear to me.

An untrustworthy individual has no moral standing to lead. 8. Our system of government, predicated on the rule of law, demands moral standing in its leaders. 9. There will be many more "revelations" about his sexual activities, in the coming weeks. His supporters constantly speak about how the country shouldn't be "put through this." Well, its Mr. Clinton who is putting us through this, and there's more to come, I'm afraid. The most important issue, and vastly under-commented upon,is the issue of his position as the "Commander-in-Chief." Because he refuses to abide by the basic rules of conduct which are applied to military leadership, he sets himself up as the "Hypocrite-in-Chief," one which I feel should never have the decision of life and death over our children, and someone who true "leaders" may be hesitant to take orders from in a time of extreme crisis. Steve B.
Jim Garver - Democrat, Option B
One thing that I wish to teach my four-year-old twins is the Pledge of Allegiance. One important line in the Pledge of Allegiance is "Liberty and justice for all." They will be taught about the three branches of government and the importance of the Judicial branch of Government. This is the Branch of government where any citizen who is treated improperly can seek redress against that improper treatment. Clearly in the Paula Jones lawsuit William Jefferson Clinton perjured himself in an attempt to deny an American citizen their rights as put forth in the Constitution of the United States of America. How can anybody say this is OK? When I teach my children about the United States of America I want to teach them about one justice system for all people, and not dual systems where the weak and poor do not have the same rights as the "Elite and rich." Please resign so that the children can be taught about the greatness of The United States of America and that I can teach them the Pledge of Allegiance.

J. M. Cavanaugh - Other, Option B
Impeachment is an extremely laborious and destructive process for the nation. A government preoccupied with this process will encourage unstable and destructive elements throughout the world to engage in mischief, believing that the US is not in a position to respond. This, unfortunately can and will create a dangerous situation for our nation and our allies. Resign now for the good of the country. This is no time for egotistical self-centeredness.
A. T. Barnes - Independent, Option B
The fact that he has committed indictable acts is beyond dispute. Any fair, rational reading of "impeachable acts" by Congress will conclude he must be impeached. Because of dumb and illegal decisions made by Bill Clinton before and during his presidency, it has become impossible for the US Government to carry out its duties. His stonewalling has dragged this affair on beyond reason, not Starr.

The country is so focused on this matter, we are neglecting other issues. The only way this issue is going to pass is for Clinton to resign now or be impeached. He has committed perjury, obstructed justice, and tampered with witnesses. If he really cares about this country, he will go.

the president's private sexual behavior leaves him open to blackmail in the same way that kennedy was blackmailed by general dynamics in the award of the f-111 contract. for that reason his behavior must be beyond reproach.

You have disgraced our country and your family. You have lost your moral athority to lead. You have perjured yourself. You have suborned the constitution. You have abused your power. If you do not leave office you will end the rule of law in our country.
Michael Beasley - Libertarian, Option B
A former president, Teddy Roosevelt, said this on May 12, 1900 while he was still governor of New York. "We can afford to differ on the currency, the tariff, and foreign policy; but we cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure ... "Honesty is not so much a credit as an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public. Unless a man is honest, we have no right to keep him in public life; it matters not how brilliant his capacity "The weakling and the coward cannot be saved by honesty alone; but without honesty, the brave and able man is merely a civic wild beast who should be hunted down by every lover of righteousness. "No man who is corrupt, no man who condones corruption in others, can possibly do his duty by the community.... "'Liar' is just as ugly a word as 'thief,' because it implies the presence of just as ugly a sin in one case as in the other. If a man lies under oath or procures the lie of another under oath, if he perjures himself or suborns perjury, he is guilty under the statute law. "Under the higher law, under the great law of morality and righteousness, he is precisely as guilty if, instead of lying in a court, he lies in a newspaper or on the stump; and in all probability, the evil effects of his conduct are infinitely more widespread and more pernicious."
D. F. Johnson - Unregistered, Option B
I think it is important for all citizens of the U.S., at a minimum, to have respect for the office of the President and its occupant, even if we do not agree with his/her politics. That respect is gone for Mr. Clinton, and it is impossible to restore it.

The presidency was created by article II of the Constitution, which provides, in part, that the president "shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed . . . ." A holder of that office who violates the law by lying under oath in a judicial proceeding has failed to fulfill this fundamental obligation and is unfit to continue in the office.
Robert Crow - Independent, Option B
Clinton is a blight on this country. Contrary to what you believe, some people won't perjure themselves to save their hides. This is not just about sex, it is about failing to perform his job as president. More revelation is coming!
Ben Ortiz, Sr. - Republican, Option B
This has gotten much bigger than any one man.......it is now about the integrity of the Presidency! Bill Clinton has brought reproach to the office and must resign.
Percy C. Keith - Unregistered, Option B
President Clinton has demonstrated, beyond any doubt, that he is a Liar, a Scoundrel, a Rascal, and a Knave. Further, his continued pursuit of power in the face of stupendously faulty judgement, seven months of perjury against the American people, his direct action to engage his cabinet in the subornation and continuation of that perjury, ought to been self evident proofs that he is not merely unfit for office, he is anathema the very core spirit of that office. Bill Clinton personifies the creature the founding fathers feared when they crafted the articles of impeachment. Moreover, if we fail to remove this odious cad from office, how are we to ever face our children, asking of them, truth, honour, respect, and dignity in their conduct?

If Clinton is allowed to remain in office, after the overwhelming evidence of perjury in a sexual harassment case, no CEO or supervisor of any kind should be expected to tell the truth in any similar case. Why, because the American people have decided that it is ok to lie about sex, whether under oath or not. Our country hs sunk to a new low!

President Caligula woudl not be able to obtain a security clearance of any kind were he not President. His repeatedly-displayed lack of self control would be more than sufficient to preclude him from doing so. I had to obtain a security clearance in the Navy in order to work on a SINGLE weapons system of a SINGLE fighter aircraft. The security clearance procedure includes a background (character) check. Perot is right. Caligula is unstable, and a criminal to boot. Caligula could not get enough security clearance to have lunch in the Pentagon cafeteria, yet he carries the nuclear launch codes, is privvy to countless State secrets, and has the authority to deploy the US military (as he did in Paraguay in response to the urgings of DNC and Caligula Campaign contributor Jiminez). Gore absolutely must exercise the 25th amendment, and remove him from office if he refuses to resign.

The President is not above the law in the United States of America. No matter how well he is perceived to be doing in office, he cannot remain if he broke perjury and obstruction of justice laws. Lying is lying and it makes no difference what the lie is about. He looked the American people in the eye in January and said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinskey". He has lied his way through his public life and has gotten away with it. There must now be an accounting.

Lying to the American people and making a subordinate employee a work place sex toy is probably enough reason for resignation. Lying under oath on certainly is. The Paula Jones lying wasn’t just about sex. It was get the favorable ruling and that is not just lying under oath, it also obstruction.

I am leaning toward the opinion expressed recently by Paul Greenberg that it would now be better for the country if Clinton remains in office until he is ready to admit that he has done something wrong or, since that is not likely to ever happen, that enough information comes out on other matters like Filegate, IRS abuses, and campaign fund raising irregularities to convince the majority of the voters that his crimes are at least as serious as those of Richard Nixon, and probably more so. At that time he will have to resign to avoid being thrown out of office by Congress.

I believe there is much more than just the Lewinski matter. The sale of technology to China, the hundreds of FBI files in the White House, the campaign fraud, the numerous 'dead bodies' that surround this administration, travelgate; the list could go on. I do not think the economy is good, how could it be when we have allowed our industrial base to leave the country and thus have our own people out of work. We are being taxed upwards to 50% and he is going to veto a tax relief?? His numerous Executive Orders that are very disturbing in regards to Americans' freedoms. The fact that he lied and is still trying to cover that lie is enough for me.

The longer you stay, Mr. Clinton, the more damage you do to yourself and others in the Democrat party. You need to stay in office to be impeached and convicted of your crimes. Clinton has been totally exposed as a Bozo with no soul (no rhyme intended). He has a wonderful memory (except when testifying before the Grand Jury), but his cognitive processes are suspect. The Monica Levinsky affair has dramatized and brought to the public's attention only a few of the transgressions of the president. The other problems will be transferred from rumor, gossip and incomplete investigations to the legal, judicial and high political arenas. Clinton will likely be impeached for perjury, obstruction of justice and suborning purjory related to Levinsky if he does not resign. Other matters may lead to impeachment for even more crimes at a later date. It would be catastrophic if the Senate was forced to consider impeachment a second or third time after refusing to convict on matters related to Levinsky. Impeachment will take several months to complete. Prior to resignation, during impeachment trials and if he is not impeached by the Senate and stays in office he will remain powerless both nationally and internationally. He cannot hope to provide the domestic and international leadership required when normally unrelated props such as a cigar and the bombing of a pharmaceutical factory bring on a chorus of disbelief and derision. I suggest the president rocket to Little Rock and insert himself in matters there.
Tim Fox - Republican, Option B

Cool! I get to express my opinion where it might have a small impact. I wish I had the time to do it right. i've done a LOT of reading on Clinton and suspect that he's basically a loose cannon and his closet is literally bursting with TRUE skeletons -- and you know what they say about the truth. It will come out... It's just a matter of time. The only skeleton I'll mention for now is one that everyone seems to be ignoring -- the blackmail potential. people keep saying that sex doesn't matter and character doesn't matter -- but when it comes to blackmail, these things DO matter. And, don't get stuck on Monica Lewinsky. Apparently, Clinton has been doing this stuff forever. What if the KGB or the Peoples Liberation Army (Do I have the right one?) saw the potential in this man back in the 70's or 80's and decided to hook their wagon to his horse? If you've noticed, there's some evidence that Clinton has given away the store to these people... And that's only the beginning and I've run out of time. Thanks for this opportunity. THAT's the quick, easy reason we don't want our President involved is such things

The young people of this nation need to see that even the president of the United States must accept responsibility for his actions, not just say that he does. If I stay in office and it becomes evident that I have been involved in other "inappropriate" or even illegal activities, I will have told our country's youth that it is all right to do what is wrong and then try to pretend that you didn't do anything. My reasons are two-fold: 1) The issues are perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and abuse of power. The evidence is sex. We are governed and are a society based on the rule of law. No man, including the president, is above that rule even if it is "only about sex." A question, if it is acceptable to lie and commit perjury about sex, what other issues are acceptable to lie about: murder, rape, Social Security, Foreign Policy, or robbery. Where is the line drawn? 2) The effectiveness of the President is based on two things: the majesty of the presidency in and of itself and the perceived moral authority of the current occupant. Clinton's actions in this situation have caused individuals to question his every move up to and including military actions. The immediate "wag-the-dog" response of the media to the bombing of the "chemical-weapon>
I made my decision as if I were Bill Clinton. And, if I were Bill Clinton I would continue with confident stupidity to hold on to the office of the Presidency until my grip had squished it into an unrecognizable mass of slimy goo. I would think I and my henchmen could control events so that even if I were impeached I would not be convicted. I would not give a rat's patootie about any constitutional necessity to remain in office, as the Constitution means absolutely nothing to me. The longer I stay in office, the more I can prolong my fantasy of absolute power even as the tide of public sentiment turns against me. I believe the public-opinion polls trumpeted by CNN as showing the overwhelming approval of "the American people" for the job I am doing as President. It doesn't bother me that the numerical depictions of the statistical measurements that supposedly yield this result are flashed on the screen and then wiped off after one 125th of a second, revealing blank, white squares. Many of "the American people" can still do simple math and would quickly surmise that the CNN talking heads are lying, if they actually needed any help in reaching this conclusion. But the lies are published for MY benefit, not theirs... It is comforting to me to have the support of CNN and countless other media in prolonging my fantasy. I want to believe I am loved by the citizens of this country and that most people want me to stay in office. It does not matter to me whether or not this is a fact, or whether my staying in office is actually good for the United States of America.

etak leinadcm - Independent, Option B
Your questions do not include the moss obvious choice - Stay in office and go thru the Impeachment process which WILL happen. The process must procede so that the records show that the American Congress (and their constituents) either upholds the law and the constitution or does not. Future events need a clear precedent on record.
Mark Wilson - Libertarian, Option B
Lieing under oath, regardless of why, is an impeachable offense. Clinton has already admitted to lieing once, and Starr has evidence of other instances. Beyond that, the level of corruption inside this administration cannot be ignored, even if none of it can be tied directly to Clinton, he is still responsible for what his direct employees do in his name.
Matthew M. Schroeder - Unregistered, Option B
My reasons for resignation are simple. I as the president MUST recognize that I am not above the laws that I swore to uphold. I have broken the law and the Constitution allows for only one mechanism to deal with that.
Patrick Cooper - Republican, Option B
He is a low life scum, who has lied about everything he is involved with. IF he doesn't resign he should be impeached

I affiliate with the objectivists... If he does not resign, he should be impeached, and tried for treason.
Eric Snow - Republican, Option B
The Office of the Presidency has become a joke. A long running 6 year joke of "bureacratic snafus", denials, revelations, spinning, excuses, and worse. Now, after admitting lies and conduct that rivals a teenager in heat (along with the same kind of judgement calls) Bill Clinton says 'I want 2 more years'? I think not.

Sir, Your resignation is the honorable thing to do. If you truly want forgivness for your actions, then resign and forgivness is your's. Stay, and the damage done to our country from your impeachment will be your legacy.
Anthony Snyder - Republican, Option B
The expectation of Honesty, integrity in our leadership and the morality of submission to the rule of law are what keeps our government respected as valid by the people. The moment that a KNOWN liar, is permitted to rule the law enforcement branch of our government, then it looses all credibility. There will be consequences to Mr. Clinton's actions. He should pay them. However, if the American people aid abeit his efforts to escape conseqence, WE will pay them.
Earl Carter - Independent, Option B
In view of remarks made in 1974 by yourself, it is the only honorable thing for you to do.
joe - Republican, Option B
You were elected in 1996, but by less than 1 in 4 registered voters in the USA, so your claim that the American people want you to stay is unfounded. You have commited crimes, so be a leader for once, and take your punishment like a man.
Roger T. Ray - Republican, Option B
1. The man is a liar. Can;t be believed in anything he says. 2. He is morally bankrupting our country. 3. We are in peril of becoming dangerously polarized in this country.

Bill Clinton has failed to meet the minimal standards of behavior as President; he has no moral authority and is an embarassment to the office.

How can we trust someone so reckless, and without honor or integrity to lead our country. To be talking about sending our military into harms way while receiving oral sex kind of leads you to his mind set. Self gratification.

Phillip Vollman - Independent, Option B
Mr. Clinton is a disgusting, lying, adulterous pig. Has forever lost the trust of the American people. His morally repugnant behavior has coarsened the body politic. He is a national nightmare and an international joke. It is time for "Sick Wille" to hit the road!
Keith Thomas - Independent, Option B
You will be impeached -- why wait?
Ed Fisher - Unregistered, Option B
Clinton is a sick sociopath, a disgrace to self, family and nation. He should return to Arkansas NOW and await indictment.
Jacquetta Breedlove - Independent, Option B
He has not only disgraced the office with his personal behavior, but more importantly has broken the law by lying under oath. He is NOT a king and should be subject to all the laws of the land as other citizens.

Andrew Bachert - Republican, Option B
Clinton, through his mouthpieces, continues to lie proves that he must be impeached. He must be impeached not merely because he is a pig and a cad and a selfish brute. He must be impeached not merely because he sexually exploited and then discarded an employee under his supervision, nor because he used government resources and personnel to facilitate and cover up his sorry little affair. He must be impeached not merely because he abused the office entrusted to him by the people. He must be impeached because he shows an utter and absolute contempt for the truth and for the law he has twice sworn to uphold. He must be impeached because, in a judicial proceeding, he knowingly lied under oath with intent to deceive, because he was given a chance to correct that lie in a second judicial proceeding and he lied again, because he persists in lying even still. He must be impeached because, in his pathology, he does great and heartless violence to other people and to the nation, and because he has made it clear that he is perfectly prepared to do more violence. He must be impeached because to not impeach him is to declare that this is what we accept in a president. He must be impeached because we are a nation of laws, not liars.
Martin M. - Other, Option B
His machine has intimidated witnesses multiple times and whether you specifically orderered it you a responsible for its actions. This constitutes the most egregious violation of the rights of individuals and since the oath of office states that the Laws of the land must be upheld and he did not uphold them he should resign. Obstruction of Justice - Protective Function Privledge!? Do you need any more nails in the coffin?

President Clinton is incapable of controlling his own life. Why should he be allowed to be in control of the country. A man like this is a security risk in more ways than one and should be removed immediately before he can do serious harm to the country. If he is not removed than Richard Nixon should receive a Congressional apology.

Doug Mann - Independent, Option B
Moral leadership is lacking. I am afraid situations like the Sudan incident will drag us in to global conflict. Clinton is operating under a cloud of mental and moral deciption and unable to make clear and correct decisions on issues of this scale. His trust level bankrupt.
David Smith - Republican, Option B
Lying, delaying tactics, absence of witnesses or use of the Fifth Amendment, it just goes on! In addition, I firmly believe that the popularity polls published in favor of Clinton are bogus, probably financed by the DNC to make the people believe the ratings they publish. I don't know of anyone who favors him remaining in office and know of no one who has been polled.

You have demeaned the Office of the Presidency. You have lied under oath. You have obstructed justice. This is NOT about sex. It is about abuse of power. And resigning/being impeached does NOT nullify the 1996 election. Unless I am mistaken, AlGore would become the next DEMOCRATIC president. Nullifying the election would be installing Bob Dole as president.

Eben H. Trevino, Jr. - Libertarian, Option B
The Office of the Presidency, its honor and prestige is of greater value than any single individual. The Constitution and laws are the secular moral foundation of our nation. Their degeneration by the President only serves to place this great Nation on a decline. History is not written by polls, pollsters, and newspapers, but by historians. Their judgement is what the President should be concerned about.
William R. Miller - Republican, Option B

Dan Philips - Republican, Option B
Mr. Clinton is a disgrace to the office of the Presidency. Worse yet, he has absolutely NO credibility left. The next time he launches air strikes or cruise missiles for some phony "war against terrorism," will anyone at all around the world believe him? He needs to go, and then the White House should be quarantined and fumigated for two weeks to rid the place of the slime and stench that "Sick Willy" and his ilk brought with them.
Robert E. Larkin - Other, Option B
The President is a liar, a sexual pervert, and a crook. He does not have the morals to lead this nation. Impeach-indict-imprison!
R. Kauffman - Independent, Option B
I could see through Mr. Clinton's facade back in 1992, but I thought he would have the personal decency, the respect for the Presidency, as well as a respect for the people of this country to uphold the dignity of his office before his constituency & the world. He has treated all with the contempt of a man obsessed with power. He is unfit for the office & an insult to his country.
Linda Davis - Republican, Option B
He has made an embarassment of the office of the presidency.

William Clinton is the most disgusting human being to ever occupy the White House. Actually, he is probably the most disgusting person to even visit 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Most of the people who continue to support him remind me of cult members such as those who took their lives while following Jim Jones (people who are not intelligent enough to see things for themselves).
