Weston Stacey, Unregistered, Option A

Bill Clinton, despite his troublesome habit of obfuscating on personal responsibilty, has shown acute executive responsibility in nurturing the economy, resisting the political benefits of polarizing social issues, and avoiding making abrupt, ill-considered forays in foreign policies which would ultimately boomerang. Dole, on the other hand, has never been in an executive position, and his tendency to modify his positions for political purposes was starkly obvious on the campaign trail.

Kate Colbert, Democrat, Option A

I support Clinton because he is very interested in education. As an 8th grade student at Boynton Middle School in Ithaca, NY, education is very important to me.

Nobody for President, Unregistered, Option C

I do not feel that anyone running is really worthy of the Presidency. They might have some good ideas, but Perot has no chance, and the rest do not pay for their campaigns. Therefore, they go into debt to other people, who then have strong influences over them. If Dole would choose Perot for his Vice, they would dominate the elections. But it is too late now. Clinton will probably win his last term in the Presidency because he is a sweet talker, and nobody is really informed enough to vote for the person who would be right for the job, if there is such a candidate.

Russell Hanscom, Independent, Option C

Although Ross Perot is percieved as somewhat of a goof, he does have the integrity and honesty to be a good leader. Money has polluted the political process.

CHADDREWLOUIS, Republican, Option B

Just because Dole is old doesn't mean that he can't be President.

James Brandtjen, Republican, Option B

Dole, unlike Clinton, has this slightly important thing called morals. How a man like Clinton can be allowed to stay in the White House speaks very poorly of the American public. Like Dole says, this country has become de-sensitized to scandal. That's why I voted for a man who is good at heart as well as a better man for the Presidency.

Mark Odell, Other, Option C

Harry Browne!

Barry Shultz, Republican, Option B

Dole has character and integrity. I don't like Clinton because everything he says is a lie so how can you be convinced that he will do anything he promises? Perot who?

Ed Helenski, Other, Option C

Harry Browne, and he's not a write-in candidate, he's on the ballot in all 50 states.

Jesse Jessen, Republican, Option A

Bob Dole is too old.

Dike Lee Moss, Republican, Option B

We just need a change.

Craig Adams, Independent, Option C

Perot. I know he's a nut case, but his condemnation of the two parties and their reliance on campaign money is so compelling that I'll go with him in protest. How much worse can he be? Clinton is too loathsome for me to pull the lever, and, as for Republicans, I will not soon forget the press conference when Messrs. Weyrich, Bauer, et al drummed Colin Powell out of their party. What party does Dole represent, anyway?

Rex Bowe, Republican, Option B

Not a hard decision. I have seen some crooked politians, but Clinton takes the cake.

Peirce, Other, Option C

Personal and economic freedom, both of these are represented by Harry Browne. Libertarian ideas are those of our founding fathers and the wave of the future!

Suzette Lavine, Other, Option C

I vote for Harry Browne, because he knows government.

Michael Bellman, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the ONLY candidate promising a tax cut NOW, a balanced budget tomorrow and the federal government out of our lives -- so that we might raise our children as we see fit without having to have half of our money taken away and given back like some child's allowance. In the 1996 election, you have two choices: You can vote for what you've always had, or you can vote for what you've always wanted. Harry Browne - Libertarian for President. http://www.harrybrowne96.org 1 (800) 682 1776.

Rebecca Jones, Other, Option C

Dole, Clinton and Perot all readily admit that they support continued growth of government. Howard Phillips wants a smaller federal government but a larger local government and supports what amounts to a theocracy. At first, I considered John Hagelin. But according to statements he made in the debates, he wants government involvement in more arenas but somehow thinks that this will represent "smaller government," since he assumes his programs will be amazingly successful and more efficient than existing programs. He openly advocates the use of force to achieve political objectives, and is therefore no different from Clinton, Dole, Perot, and Phillips. Consider, for instance, the implication of his statement that he's for "prevention" solutions. If you examine what he means by "prevention," you see that he wants to drastically increase funding for many "education" program, and to increase regulation of a wide variety of human activities (including more regulation of drug use, introduction of a trade tariff and an import/export quota, and a wide variety of other absurd programs). So, I find that, despite a few misgivings about a few of the Libertarian stances, I will be voting for Harry Browne. I agree with the majority of his positions, and he is clearly the only candidate of principle, the only candidate committed to a smaller, less intrusive government and freedom from government for ALL minorities (racial, ethnic, gender, sexual persuasion, pot-smokers, religious and non-religious, etc.). Harry Browne is the ONLY candidate who does not support the initiation of the use of force, of violence, to achieve political ends. Clinton will win by a landslide, of course. He doesn't need your vote . . . and Bob Dole can't USE your vote -- it won't help him. On the other hand, a few percent of the total vote cast for the Libertarian candidate could have a radical impact on U.S. politics in the near future. Consider: an extra 5% of the vote for Bob Dole is not likely to make him the winner, but 5% for Harry Browne would make a HUGE difference in our politcal future, bringing media and political attention to ideas that haven't had a voice in our government since the American Revolution.

Len Shelton, Independent, Option A

The campaign was over before anyone noticed it had begun. My decision was made when Lugar dropped out. It was a natural one.

John Gerlach, Option C

Harry Browne is concerned with the big issues that will control the U.S. citizens. He has the plan to correct the current problem, and to get the federal government back into line, so we can return to the freedom and liberty that existed before the government was given the opportunity to take these freedoms away from us.

Niclennan, Option C

Harry Browne is the only candidate who is serious about reducing the size of government.

Robert Armstrong, Republican, Option C

It doesn't matter. Both of these guys are about politics rather than leadership and that's just how we want it. The problem is with us. The candidates don't discuss issues because every polititican who has tried to discuss issues in the past 15 years has been slaughtered. Remember Mondale? Remember Tsongas? Dupont? All of these guys tried to discussed issues and they're all retired. We don't want a president, we want a messiah, someone who can defy gravity. Lower taxes, raise benefits, pass laws against opinions I disagree with but leave me the hell alone. The truth is that there are some tough problems out there. There are a limited number of correct answers, and they all involve hard work.

David Lewis, Option B

I have no respect for Clinton . . . He doesn't tell the truth or keep his promises.

Bill Chapman, Unregistered, Option A

Bob Dole has yet to prove to me that he is sincere. He's too much of a party man.

John E. Bolles, Independent, Option A

This was a hard decision. Bob Dole does seem to be a sincere person, which I admire. However, should he be the leader of our country? Considering some of the gaffes he has made, including the one about cigarettes not being addictive, I'm not so sure. This makes me question his competence. Bill Clinton is a thinking man's President. He is intellectually sharp and quick with a reasonable response to just about any question. Sure, he has some liabilities, especially his documented womanizing, but does this affect his decision-making ability? I doubt it. I have to go with the man who I think will make the most reasonable choices that affect our country's future. Bill Clinton seems to be that man.

Doug Hoiles, Other, Option C

I am voting for Harry Browne because his positions most closely match mine on virtually all issues, and I believe he means it. Dole and Clinton both have a long history of supporting bigger government and higher taxes, neither of which I want.

Dave, Unregistered, Option B

Clinton is a crook.

Gary Childers, Option A

I support Clinton with the hope that more congressional Democrats will get elected and create a majority to get rid of Newt Gingrich; they will bring sensible, compromising government back to Congress.

Peter T. Burnash, Democrat, Option A

I fear a leader of the executive branch who is under the influence of the far right. We have set a moderate course with President Clinton. And, while the Federal Reserve has much to do with the economy, a 15% tax cut would rip at the success we have had in eliminating the debt this country owes.

Dana, Independent, Option C

John Haeglin of the Natural Law Party gets my vote. While I realize he doesn't have a prayer of winning it is more a matter of sticking to my principles than just going for whoever can win. He, at least, is reasonable enough to want less government at both the federal and state levels. He and the party have also clearly spelled out workable solutions for many of our problems. I would vote for Harry Browne, except that I don't consider him a true Libertarian. He believes in no-federal-government but seems to think that the strong-hand of the state or local government is OK. A true Libertarian recognizes coercive government power no matter whether it is at the federal level or state/local level. Keep in mind that before WWII, though the federal government was not as strong, the state and local governments were much stronger. That's why the 14th Amendment was passed. Those people had direct experience with living under an equally intrusive state/local government system and thus used the amendment process to force recognition of basic rights that NO government should be allowed to tread upon. Another thing, never in history has a true Libertarian society (as the Libertarian Party conceives it) ever existed and continued. Even the Marxists can claim that at least their political theories were tried.

Charles Jens, Other, Option A

The reasons I support Clinton: 1) Because of Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh. (A friend of my enemies is also my enemy). 2) Bob Dole has no idea how fast the world is changing.

Nick Valiante, Democrat, Option A

Clinton is the best man, and he will continue to lead the country in the right direction.

Mark A. Semich, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the only candidate running for President who realizes that the cause of our problems is that the federal government has become a huge, hulking pariah that must be slashed back to a minimum.

Spencer C. Nesson, Other, Option C

Of all the candidates, only one, Harry Browne, understands the true nature of government as it is and as it should be. Those who founded this country and its government would be appalled at the way coercion and compulsion have become the only vehicles for people relating to other people. It is time to realize the dream of the framers of the Constitution and place the power into the hands and heart of the individual.

Lisa Edwards, Democrat, Option A

Dole's ideas are old and have proven detrimental to our economy. His extremely negative campaign has been a huge turn-off and has convinced me to vote a straight Democratic ticket at the national and state level. Dole represents hypocrisy at its height. President Clinton has a strong record on which to run. Personally, I'd prefer him to represent more of my liberal ideals (of which I am proud)! Our President has conducted an honorable campaign, proving to be the southern gentleman I admire.

Jason Kreitzer, Republican, Option C

Harry Browne for President! Not a hard choice at all.

Bill Schindler, Other, Option C

Harry Browne. I support him because he offers something none of the other candidates offer: reduced government, reduced taxes, and a REAL possibility of balancing the budget within our lifetimes. He's also the only candidate honest enough to refuse government hand-outs (paid for by our taxes) while talking about reducing taxes.

Ray Irvine, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the only viable option this election. Government must be reduced now!

David B. Brown, Other, Option C

Harry Browne for President!

Whitney Boutin, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the only real choice among the people who are running. The only reason this country has been the greatest is due to people who hold Libertarian principles dear.

JD Miller, Democrat, Option A

You're right, the issues have been largely avoided. Perhaps the (probably) split government will force some issues to the foreground. I believe we need some drastic revisions in our form of government in this age of instant communication, and the Reform party seems to have the right principles, but I don't think they have a clue as to how to implement them. We need to invent a cross of good thinkers, good speakers and people of good will to give us a chance. Perhaps the current fresh crop of retired Senators and Congress-folks, (an expanded Concord Coalition??), might be a good starting place.

Mark O. Wilson, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the only candidate who has pledged to actually shrink the size and intrusiveness of the federal government, not just slow down its rate of growth.

Shawn Connelly, Other, Option C

I am voting for Harry Browne because he is the only candidate who would actually reduce the size of government, and restore the meaning of liberty.

Eric Pavao, Other, Option C

Harry Browne -- huge spending cuts, huge tax cuts, and a balanced bugget NOW!

Matt Reed, Other, Option C

I'll vote for Harry Browne, because unlike Clinton and Dole, he's not beheld by the fat-cat campaign donors.

Reverend M, Other, Option C

Harry Browne!

Paul Schmidt, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the only candidate talking about smaller government with a road-map of how to get there. Dole and Clinton, along with the two major parties, will keep government growing. It is time people vote for what they want -- smaller government!

Patrick El-Azem, Other, Option C

Who: Harry Browne. Why: he's the only pro-business, pro-growth candidate. Unlike other candidates, he will not continue to inundate businesses with stupid and burdensome legislation and bureaucracy. He is committed to opening markets and reducing the size and taxation burden of government, freeing up capital and resources for economic growth. He has refused federal matching funds (for which he qualified before Perot, whom he also beat to all 50 state ballots); all other candidates have accepted them, totaling over $150 million of taxpayer money. Much more on why businesses only stand to lose more with Clinton/Dole/Perot at http://www.lp.org. Small business owners especially owe it to themselves to check out why Libertarians are the only ones on their side -- contrary to all empty Republican rhetoric (have they followed up on any of it?).

Chuck Eby, Other, Option C

Harry Browne. Get back to the vision that the founding fathers had for this country -- a small, unintrusive federal government, and liberty for all.

Charles Hawkins, Other, Option C

Harry Browne is the best candidate for the job. He wants to cut government in half, which would get rid of the deficit; he wants to sell off federal lands and holdings to pay for the failed Social Security program and buy annuities for all participants and current retired folks; he wants to repeal income tax and replace it with NOTHING. Let's all try to put this country back together and eliminate 50% of the federal government the first year. Let's vote HARRY BROWNE and JO JORGENSEN, LIBERTARIANS!!

Gabor Kardos, Independent, Option C

I am sick and tired of listening to both the Democrats and the Republicans (even some of the minor party candidates) promise more of my money to every special interest whose vote they solicit. When are we going to face the music and realize that the party is over, and that we are heading for bankruptcy? Their main aim is to make every citizen dependent on the state so they can manipulate us and buy our votes. It is time to return to our founding fathers' principle, and return to limited government. That is the reason why I am voting for Harry Browne, and the decision was easy. He is the only one who believes that government does not work when it steps out of its constitutional boundaries. The election campaign was totally disgusting, and void of any new ideas because the media did not let any of the minority candidates air their views or debate any of the pressing issues. It was only on the Internet where information was available on these important debates. I hope, God help us, that the Internet will be a more important and influential medium at the next election.

Ernst Ghermann, Other, Option C

Harry Browne. He most closely represents my view of what government should be and do. It's an easy decision. The campaign was boring and devoid of issues -- we desperately needed Ross Perot and Harry Browne in the debates.

Howard Mora, Independent, Option C

Harry Browne is the only candidate to identify problems and propose real, workable solutions in concrete terms.

Mike Panella, Other, Option C

It's an easy decision to vote for Harry Browne, the Libertarian candidate for President. I read his book, Why Government Doesn't Work. I agree with his plans to solve the Social Security crisis, pay off the national debt, remove oppressive government regulations, repeal the income tax and reduce crime by ending the insane "War on Drugs." I want to enter the next century with a clean slate, freed from the burden of big government.

Charles Vaughan, Republican, Option B

I am an attorney, and courts operate on truth. Since Clinton lacks the ability to tell the truth and lacks elementary concepts of character, I cannot support him. Besides, our greatest generation, (WWII), needs one last time to lead us into a new century.

EG, Democrat, Option A

Bill Clinton possesses a strong will to see young Americans succeed. From education policy to the actions he has taken as President, his is a record displaying vision and accomplishment.

Tom Kaimakides, Democrat, Option C

I support Harry Browne. I've read and listened to Clinton, Dole, Hagelin, Nader and Browne. Mr. Browne is the only candidate whose ideas have a chance of getting this country straightened out.

Caryn Jenners, Other, Option C

I will be voting for Harry Browne of the Libertarian Party. Vote for a smaller, constitutional government; for an end to the insane, unconstitutional drug prohibition; for protection of free speech on the Internet and elsewhere; for an end, forever, to the income tax, the capital gains tax, the Social Security tax and other coercive wealth redistribution schemes; for a balanced budget NOW; for ending our military meddling in other countries' affairs; for keeping government OUT of the abortion issue, neither funding nor prohibiting it. Dole and Clinton are adamantly opposed to all these measures -- only Harry Browne will fight for your freedoms, for a smaller, less intrusive government.

Scott Jensen, Other, Option C

Harry Browne should be elected since he is the only candidate that will rein in government; get government out of our lives and businesses; eliminate the income tax and IRS; bring all our troops home and stop the U.S. from being the world's policeman; remember the failure of Prohibition and stop the "War on Drugs"; and reduce the federal government to merely what is specified in the U.S. Constitution.

M Montoni, Other, Option C

The only proper role of government is to protect the rights of individuals. Harry Browne is the only presidential candidate who understands this. He has my vote.

Steve, Other, Option C

It isn't a hard decision to vote for Harry Browne. I hope to have children someday and want them to live in a free country.

Brian McFadden, Independent, Option C

My choice for President is "the President to be named later." With this non-choice put to us, we have no other choice than to vote for nobody. Leave the space blank when you pull the lever across in the voting booth. Otherwise, Clinton may view the landslide win he will get as his "mandate", but the sure-footed backing certainly won't be behind him. If a lot of people purposefully left their choice blank, a clear message will be sent that we deserve and demand more. Support "nobody" for President, maybe later we will get a better player in the deal.

Ed Skibbe, Independent, Option A

There is no viable liberal candidate so Clinton and the Democrats will have to do.

Michael E. Cullinan, Independent, Option C

My candidate is Ralph Nader -- a passionate, committed crusader for economic justice and government accountability. He has maintained his probity and integrity in the face of industry and government harassment and hypocrisy. He has never compromised his principles nor failed to "rise to the occasion" when challenged. THIS man has won my vote. THOSE men (Clinton & Dole) have earned my contempt.

John Swenson Harvey, Democrat, Option A

The joint ideas of government working to ensure opportunity and individuals required to accept responsibility, appeal to me.

Mark Felton, Republican, Option B

To reward someone with a total lack of ethics is a travesty. My vote is more of a vote against Clinton than a vote for Dole.

Robert A. Wilson, Democrat, Option A

Clinton has been able to turn back some of the devasting effects of the Reagan-Bush supply-side agenda that hurt post-secondary education. The Republican Party seems hell-bent on eliticizing college and graduate school education in this country. I know because my wife and I were victims of severe 1980 cuts in graduate aid programs and are just now at the point of recovering some of this debt.

Charlee Lambert, Democrat, Option A

I am a Democrat but neither candidate sounds or acts like a Democrat. They have muddied the lines between the two so that they are not recognizable. I believe the common man/woman has more opportunity with the Democrats, and so I stick with Clinton. I do not worry about their morals. Other than Truman and Carter, there probably has not been any other President faithful to their wives since the time of George Washington. Another thing, there is no such thing as a tax cut. Taxes always go up because the services that are needed by all of us have to be paid for some way, and we are it. I would like to see some of this money spent on putting campaigns to better use. The advertising is awful.

Diane G. Drake, Democrat, Option A

As long as the extreme right wing controls the Republican party platform, I will never consider voting Republican.
