Adele Takes on Newt Gingrich

The singer blasts the Republican contender -- or so it seems in this clever overdubbed parody.

Adele, the British singer who took home six Grammys at the awards ceremony this weekend, knows a lot about romantic entanglements that end poorly -- in fact, the record that won her the Grammy for album of the year was about a "rubbish relationship," in her words. Does that make her the perfect pop star to take on twice-divorced presidential contender Newt Gingrich?

The Internet says yes! Some wag put together this video, in which someone (who has remarkably good pipes, it must be noted) overdubbed parody lyrics to Adele's "Someone Like You" on her performance at the Brit Awards show. It's chock full of references to everything from Gingrich's line of credit at Tiffany's to his proposal to put school kids to work as janitors. Here's the chorus:

Any guy besides someone like Newt
Ditched his first sick wife, and then number two, too
Not an ethical shred
In his oversized head
Please just quit politics
And find some more girls to bed.

Ouch!
