Chris Hondros, a war photographer slain in Misrata, Libya, on Wednesday, was renowned for a lifetime of work covering deadly conflict zones.
He was less well-known -- outside of political journalism circles, perhaps -- for his coverage of the American political scene, where candidates "blast" each other but the only grenades lobbed are verbal. Still, many people in Washington and politics also knew him as a campaign and White House photographer, which he was at times when not traveling the world, and mourn him just the same.
Below, a selection of his political images. Alan Taylor has gathered his last photos from Libya into a gallery, as well.
