Chris Dodd (D-CT) announced his retirement yesterday, Democrats touted popular state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal as a huge favorite to keep the seat in Democratic heands, citing an automated Public Policy Polling survey that showed him holding a big lead over GOP candidates. Rob Simmons, isn't buying it: Hotline OnCall's Jamie Shufflebarger reports that strategist Neil Newhouse penned a memo suggesting "this race will be a war of attrition, with Blumenthal slowly losing support over time as he makes it known where he stands on the issues of the day."
