A State Of The Union Preview

The New York Times gave a preview of what will be in President Obama's State of the Union address, and it seems to fit with the White House's recent tack toward middle- and working-class economic concerns. That's what we saw in the president's speech in Ohio late last week: a rededication to those issues and the rhetoric to go with them--which have actually been a big part of Obama's rhetoric since the campaign. One of the items of focus, now, the Times reported, is tax credits; the stimulus and the White House's response to the economic crisis as a whole have polled poorly recently, and in Ohio last week, when Obama brought up the stimulus, its tax cuts were the first thing he mentioned. That seems to be what the White House wants to focus on now as it continually sells its economic response to the public.
