Campaign Debt Help For Clinton
By
As you begin to read about the negotiations between the Obama and Clinton campaigns over her $30M+ debt, note that under federal law, Obama can't simply transfer money into Sen. Clinton's account. He can lend her his e-mail list; he can ask his donors to raise money for her campaign, but he can't give her money.
Some Clinton advisers believe that Sen. Clinton should first ask her supporters to help retire her debt -- at least the $20M or so that's not her own loans -- before she turns to Obama as a supplicant.
