Obama Driving Gas Tax Issue
By
Barack Obama's press conference this morning has one purpose: to join Hillary Clinton in the debate about a gas tax holiday. The campaign has embargoed Obama's opening statement until he gives it, but it's clear that Obama and Clinton sharply diverge in assessing the political signifiance of Obama's opposition. Clinton thinks her support shows that she has a solution and is ready to act; Obama expostulates that the proposal will be seen by voters as expedience, rather than seriousness.
