100 Percent Negative? Not Now

WEST CHESTER, PA -- n a fundraising appeal sent to the Obama campaign's e-mail list last week, manager David Plouffe said that Hillary Clinton is "running a 100% negative campaign in Pennsylvania."

The campaign apparently bases the claim on this report. .

As of sometime last week, though, the Clinton campaign had mixed up its traffic.

Statewide, about half of the Clinton ad buy is negative. Th rest is positive. In the Erie and Harrisburg markets, Clinton is running a positive ad on the economy called "Stand By You." A similar ad is running in every other Pennsylvania market.

A reader (and self-described "ardent Obama supporter") has seen positive ads in Philadelphia featuring Gov. Ed Rendell and Mayor Michael Nutter.

The negative spots focusing on Obama's "bitter/cling" comments.

The reader "also have received negative robocalls from Clinton -- specifically attacking Obama on taking money from energy companies & voting for the "Bush-Cheney" energy bill."

There's plenty of contrast ads coming from the Clinton side, but they're not running an entirely negative campaign.
