The Dinner-Party Theory of Internet Comments

Here I am on WNYC discussing how to create a "interesting comment section." (Is that what we're during here?)  At one point Bob Garfield (my intrepid interlocutor) asks if I had to choose between totally unmoderated comments, and no comments at all, which I would prefer. No comments by a mile. When you write about race (or anything political) it's amazing how quickly everything on the web is reduced down to black people and IQ scores.
