What does it take to produce NBC's number-one-rated Sunday morning public affairs program and the longest running television program in the world? Betsy Fischer, Executive Producer of Meet the Press, shares a little bit of what it takes through "Lessons from Leaders," an exclusive program in support of Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Women, an initiative that aids underserved female entrepreneurs around the world.
"In my case, I was lucky enough to start at Meet the Press as an intern 20 years ago--so I was able to 'grow up' in these surroundings, learn some tough lessons along the way, and eventually discover how to trust my instincts and have the confidence to make important decisions," Fischer says.
She also adds that "a key trait of an effective business leader is the ability to be comfortable and timely in decision-making and that confidence in decision-making and good judgment really comes from experience."
And quite possibly the most important advice Fischer gives to young women starting their careers is to "do what you love, what you enjoy, and what you know."
Melanne Verveer, U.S. Ambassador for Women's Issues, and Bertha Gonzalez Nieves, co-founder and CEO of Casa Dragones, also give advice on becoming successful executives. Click here
