The Atlantic's Digital Platforms Post a Record-Setting Month in January, Attracting the Most Monthly Unique Visitors Ever

Washington, D.C., and New York, N.Y.--Exceeding all previous benchmarks, The Atlantic's digital properties posted a record-setting month in January with nearly 20 million unique visitors across its three Web sites and mobile and tablet apps. 

Compared to a year ago, monthly unique visitors in January increased double digits at all three sites:  TheAtlantic.com drew 13.8 million unique visitors last month, a 38 percent increase year over year; TheAtlanticWire.com  attracted 5.1 million unique visitors, up 42 percent; and TheAtlanticCities.com broke 1 million unique visitors, a 53 percent increase. Monthly active users on The Atlantic's iOS app increased 47 percent compared to a year ago, also reaching a new high.  

These traffic benchmarks follow a sustained period of record-breaking performance across The Atlantic's Web properties: January marks the fifth time in six months TheAtlantic.com has set a traffic record, is the fourth time in five months TheAtlanticWire.com has accomplished this feat, and represents a five-month high for Cities

"Our strong performances last month on all three sites is a reminder that there is a big audience out there for digital content that is smart, original, timely, and compelling," Bob Cohn, editor of Atlantic Digital, said. "We're already working to expand the sites in 2013, and this certainly gives us the confidence to pursue those plans aggressively. Watch for new channels, new features, and new staff in the months ahead."

The Atlantic's digital platforms closed out January 2013 up 37 percent in digital advertising revenue compared to a year ago.
