A few people wanted to hear the first fiction excerpt, I posted and evidently weren't able to. Here it is. 

The thing to know is this: Caroline and Otha are Virginians. They are also enslaved on the Walker plantation, Little Nation. Caroline is new, having just been purchased. Otha grew up on Little Nation. In the following reading they are meeting for the first time.
