Born in 1975, the product of two beautiful parents. Raised in West Baltimore—not quite The Wire, but sometimes ill all the same. Studied at the Mecca for some years in the mid-’90s. Emerged with a purpose, if not a degree. Slowly migrated up the East Coast with a baby and my beloved, until I reached the shores of Harlem. Wrote some stuff along the way.

Again, lots of good ones. I thought eigenperson offered was the best explanation, and he's the winner. But I just want to note how hard it is to pick a winner, given that all of these posts kind of riff off each other. They work as a collective and picking out the best synthesis of all the info offered is a challenge. Will do another later this week.
