Your post and the author you quoted made the mistake of comparing Research 2000 poll from this week to a Rasmussen poll from last week. That's silly, as they're different pollsters, samples and methods. The only accurate way to judge the effect the recent news cycle has had on this race is to compare a poll taken BEFORE it to the EXACT SAME POLL taken after it.
