On or about November 6, 1954, Peter Drucker invented management. His timing
was felicitous: the "management boom" of the 1950s and 1960s was set to go off,
yet there was no book to herald it, no book to explain management to managers,
no book to establish management as among the major social innovations of the
twentieth century. Drucker would supply the lack. |
