What We're Following This Afternoon

Chris Christie endorses Trump: The New Jersey governor’s support is a boost to the Republican front-runner, who was attacked by Rubio in last night’s debate. Rubio himself had been Christie’s target at a previous debate when Christie was still running for president.

FIFA has a new boss: It’s Gianni Infantino, the head of UEFA. FIFA also passed a package at its session today meant to overhaul soccer’s governing body.

Japan’s falling population: A new census shows the country lost nearly 1 million people over the past five years. It’s the first decline recorded since the census was introduced in 1920.

New Republic sold: The venerable liberal magazine was sold to Win McCormack, the editor in chief of Tin House literary quarterly and of Tin House Books. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Chris Hughes, who bought the magazine in 2012, announced last month that it was up for sale.
