Built in 1937 by Chicago architect Ambrose Cramer, Fincastle is one of the finest estates in Louisville, Kentucky. A tasteful interior takes a classic form, but, at least for the most part anyway, makes it seem not as stodgy. Not so in the wood-paneled library, where leather-bound books and a stuffed stag on the wall hark back to turn-of-the-century gentility. Still, that's not necessarily a bad thing and there are plenty more rooms in this 9,000-square-foot mansion to keep everyone happy, including a 32-foot family room addition completed in 2009. Given that this is a $6,250,000 house in Kentucky, one would be right to expect some acreage. This estate boasts 50 acres, with the option to buy an additional 30.
