Photos of protesters struggling with police capture the tense atmosphere inside the city today
Today marks the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations, and despite their eviction from Zuccoti Park, protesters have made it clear that their movement isn't dead. At 7 a.m., they marched en masse toward Wall Street, clogging intersections as they chanted, "All day, all week, shut down Wall Street!" Police set up barricades. The protesters dismantled them. After a tense skirmish that involved pushing, shouting, and dozens of arrests, the protesters eventually moved on to other parts of New York City. According to the latest reports, they are currently heading toward City Hall, where they plan to rally at 5 p.m.
The following photos from this morning's scuffles outside the New York Stock Exchange and Zuccoti Park capture the city's atmosphere on this action-filled day.
