Rocky Mountain High

By Jeffrey Goldberg

The Goldblog Worldwide Opinion Center has moved itself to Colorado temporarily for the Atlantic-co-sponsored Aspen Ideas Festival. The Goldblog Worldwide Opinion Center (GWOC, for short) will be up and functioning as soon as Goldblog gets over his altitude sickness, which Goldblog is experiencing for the first time after many Aspen Ideas Festivals. Altitude sickness may cause Goldblog to espouse opinions he doesn't actually have, so if you read in this space in the coming days an endorsement of the Hamas charter, for instance, please feel free to ignore.

The Ideas Report
Right now I'm sitting in a session moderated by the Atlantic's Corby Kummer, who is interviewing Gary Taubes, the guy who has taken all the fun out of Little Debbie snack cakes. I've brought my ten-year-old son to the session; he wants to speak up on behalf of glazed doughnuts. He would be quite popular for doing so. I'm moderating a bunch of sessions in the coming days on 9/11 and the future of counterterrorism, and I'll be posting interesting notions I hear about in this space whenever possible.

In the meantime, please read Alexis Madrigal's interesting ideas about ideas, and his coverage of the opening session of the Festival.
