Arteries of New York City, a documentary by Encyclopedia Britannica Films, is a fascinating look at New York's transportation infrastructure in the 1940s. Courtesy of the Prelinger Archive, the film includes great footage of subways, bridges, ferries, highways, and avenues, as well as maps of commuter patterns, reflecting the growth of the suburban population at the time.
