A Famous Philanthropist's Pine Brook Estate in California

More

Location: Atherton, California

Price: $59,500,000

Too bad Mark Zuckerberg already settled on a Silicon Valley roost, because it's going to take a billionaire's budget to snag the late philanthropist Madeleine Haas Russell's sprawling Atherton estate. Pine Brook, as the 12-acre estate is known, is long on features, but the listing is short on photos (with just five). That's not a lot of exposure for the 11,000-square-foot main house, 6,500-square-foot guest house, and one of the largest plots of undeveloped land in the ritzy borough of Atherton. Built in 1911, long before the titans of Silicon Valley staked their claim, this Tudor spread has been home to deep pockets for 100 years now and will continue to be, should the Russell family achieve the $59,500,000 asking price.
