Orbital View: Deepwater Horizon Oil Lingers Off the Mississippi Delta

NASA captured this image via spectroradiometer on July 4. The oil is a lighter gray than the water due to sunlight: since oil is a smoother surface than water, it reflects more light and appears brighter than the surrounding ocean.
