Plagiarizing, Badly

I see that the website/aggregator/whatever Newser.com has "picked up" my latest Globe column on how the oil spill hurts the Tea Party, which is to say they've taken it and hastily rewritten it for themselves. Nice of them to give me a link, though, wasn't it? But here's the thing: the Bangladeshi sweatshop laborer or whoever does their stuff missed my point.

He says the spill brought out the "worst" in Tea Party leaders. I made no such value judgment and disagree. Mostly, they reacted as you'd expect anti-government types to react. If you're one of them, then you probably believe that the spill brought out their best. Few have become converts to the nanny state. My point was simply that a lot of people suddenly understand why government is necessary.

Guess you get what you pay for...
