The Majestic America Line operates three ships on the Mississippi: the American Queen , the Mississippi Queen, and the Delta Queen. Destinations range from New Orleans to St. Paul; some cruises also wend up the Ohio River to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
Rates vary widely according to the type of cabin and the season. Fares on the American Queen between New Orleans and Memphis, for example, range from about $900 to $2,300 per person (based on double occupancy), including meals. Liquor, wine, and some guided shore excursions are extra. Seven-night summer cruises from St. Louis to St. Paul are $1,500 to $2,300 per person. A 14-day cruise from New Orleans to Pittsburgh aboard the historic Delta Queen (built in 1926) runs $4,000 to $6,200 per person.
