Main Street
In America the street is the pre-eminent kind of public space and Main
Street is the pre-eminent kind of street. Buildings meet the sidewalk
edge, forming a wall that gives Main Street the feeling of an outdoor room.
People can live and work in the upper stories above the shopping.
