Psych Evaluation Recommended Not Sending WikiLeaker Manning to Iraq

Bradley Manning, the army private accused of leaking information to WikiLeaks from Iraq may never have accessed the classified material if his commanders had listened to a military mental health specialist. The Washington Post reports today that an army health specialist had recommended that the soldier not be deployed to Iraq in the first place. Manning's commanding officers did not heed the advice, sending the soldier overseas, where he had access to State Department and Pentagon files:

... an Army investigation has concluded that the commanders' decision not to heed the specialist's advice and their failure to properly discipline Manning may have contributed to one of the most high-profile classified military network breaches in decades, the military official said.
