Cigar enthusiasts from around the world flocked to Cuba during the last week of February, visiting tobacco plantations and cigar factories and sampling new kinds of cigars.

According to Cubans: The Ultimate Cigars, by Wil Mara, the world-famous H. Upmann brand was started by two German brothers, Herman and August Upmann, in 1844, when the brothers opened a cigar store in Havana. The company makes dozens of varieties of cigars in Cuba, some handmade, others machine-made.
