Recipe: Easy Cranberry-Orange Compote

Food & Wine's Reinventing the Classics pairs cranberries with orange in an innovative sauce. Here's a similar recipe.

    • 3 cups cranberries
    • 2 cups white granulated sugar
    • ½ cup white brandy or rum
    • 1 cup orange marmalade
    • ¼ cup Grand Marnier

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Oil a cookie sheet or spray it with Pam or other cooking spray, and spread cranberries out on sheet. Cover cranberries with sugar and drizzle brandy or rum over the top.

Bake for 20 minutes. Then let cranberries cool. In a separate bowl, mix marmalade and Grand Marnier.

In glass serving dish, layer one-third of the cranberries with one half of the orange marmalade mixture. Repeat until you have cranberry, orange mixture, cranberry, orange, cranberry on top.
